The Wheel of Life

The wheel of life, developed by Paul J. Meyer in the 1960s, is a tool for measuring life and setting goals. By breaking down aspects of life into categories (typically 8-10), the wheel visualizes well-being, current level of satisfaction, and balance.

Each category in the wheel is scored from 1 to 10 based on how satisfied or content the user feels about each domain of life. Then, the user can pick areas in life to prioritize and set new goals. One variation also asks the user to set their current level of satisfaction and their desired level, measuring the gap between the two.

In this implementation, each value is set as a number between 1 and 10 in the properties of each page, with the default categories of:

  • Finances & Money

  • Health & Fitness

  • Family & Friends

  • Spirituality & Religion

  • Recreation & Lifestyle

  • Love & Romance

  • Work & Career

  • Growth & Learning

Some additional common categories can include:

  • Environment (Home & External)

  • Community & Social Contribution

  • Mental Health & Wellbeing

  • Get creative and come up with your own categories
